About project
An augmented reality tour of Boston, featuring the story of Katherine Switzer’s historic run in the 1967 Boston Marathon. In collaboration with Hashtag Our Stories, we combined an interview with Katherine, historic photos, and Snap AR’s geospatial tracking system to bring the experience to life. By wearing Snap Spectacles, and walking the actual Boston Marathon course, users could see and hear Katherience experiences at the exact locations where they happened. The tour also included photos from the Library of Congress brought to life in locations such as Quincy Market and the Boston Common, accompanied by poems written by Kevin Gu, Boston Youth Poet Laureate, in reaction to the photographs.
